Ramadan for sure warms our hearts with its holiness, the family time together, bonding over with friends over elaborate meals and good times. It is a time to reconnect and rejuvenate ourselves. The sharing and caring moments, evening lanterns glow our homes with happiness. This is also the most perfect time to shine from within. While the prayers cleanse our souls, the fasting can help us achieve our self- care, detox, and Weight loss goals. Fasting is a cultural practice across the world in many religions. It has been practised for years now and the benefits have not only physiological but psychological benefits as well. And who doesn’t want to cull all the possible goodness of this festive season? We all want to look our best, revamp our routines and build on good habits.
The Holy month of Ramadan can be challenging just as much as of joy it brings in our lives. Mostly rounding up in summers, hydration becomes a huge concern with your skin taking the biggest hit.
Here is how you can conquer and cherish this month while making the most of it.
Stay Hydrated
This is a no brainer. We read this repeatedly everywhere and hydration is the solution for most physiological ailments. Since you are fasting, it is best to have as much water as possible in the night until Suhoor. An easy way to do this is to keep a bottle of water on your nightstand, this will remind you to drink enough water before bedtime. Through the day during your fast try and keep your skin moisturized with a super hydrating moisturizer. Ward off any strong scrubs and masks that may dry you out. Hydrating serums can be beneficial during these times. Also, the best time to use a good face mask. If you are someone who doesn’t want to use any products during your fast, try and use a humidifier in the room to avoid dryness. You can resume your skin routine after you break your fast.
Sleep well
Ramadan also means altered sleep hours and completely reversed circadian rhythm. It may feel difficult during the first week of Ramadan but mostly you will get used to it. To sleep well, use alarms. Our body slowly but steadily gets used to the mechanism we try to put it through. Following a strict discipline in the first two weeks of Ramadan can help you get in the groove. Try and cut out on caffeine and sugary sodas. They disrupt your sleep patterns, cause inflammation in the body and lead to faulty digestion. That could keep you up when you want to fill in your snooze hours. Shut the curtains, keep your phone away and wake up refreshed!
Keep it Natural
As it is already established this is the best time to detox. Include a lot of wholesome food in your meals instead of junking on fast food, sweets, and fried foodstuff. Of course, it is a time for celebration and what is a get together complete without sweets and desserts! But limit your portions to a minimum and focus on the fruits, vegetables, salads, and grilled food. Remember this is the best time to optimize a change in routine especially in terms of food habits. It is best to break you fast with dates and water. Fresh fruits and juices also top the list for food that can keep you energized during your fasting hours. Do not forget to have nuts for they are rich in fatty acids.
Ditch the Dairy
If you are acne-prone or someone who has a sensitive gut, dairy can cause further havoc in your system. To add to this, poor and inadequate sleep can lead to a flare-up of acne which may shatter your skin goals during Ramadan and Eid. Acne takes minimum 4-6 weeks to clear up, so be mindful of what you consume to prevent any unwarranted mishaps on your skin. Watch that Milk cake!
Pamper

Nimue products along with your trusty water bottle can be your nightstand buddies this festive season. And what is a better way to make this a lifestyle change!
